Jub Jub, real name Molemo Maarohanye, can now travel for gig outside the country.

On Friday, the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court relaxed the rape-accused TV host and rapper’s bail conditions – ZiMoja reports.

The decision came after the Uyajola 9/9 host’s lawyer, Ntsako Baloyi, applied for the bail conditions of his client to be relaxed so he can travel to South Africa’s neighbouring countries for performances.

JUB JUB’S GIVEN HIS PASSPORT BACK

According to Baloyi, Jub Jub’s first gig will be in Botswana on 27 April. His second gig is in Lesotho on 2 June and third in Mozambique on 29 June.

“In our 7-page affidavit my focus will be on paragraph 29 and 30 where we are requesting the passport for the purposes of travelling and to perform outside of South Africa that is in Lesotho, Mozambique and Botswana,” said Baloyi.

“We have an annexure at the end of the affidavit as confirmation of these trips, therefore we request the passport for the purpose of travelling and further we humbly request the court to allow my client to be in possession of his passport for the rest of the year. He will then have to report to the investigating officer as suggested by the court.”

While State prosecutor, Advocate Nel, agreed to relax the Ndikhokhele hitmaker’s bail conditions, she said he cannot keep his passport for the rest of the year.

“It will not be in the interest of justice to have the bail conditions fully relaxed; we have to consider the charges he faces. For now, it may sound like we want to inconvenience the accused but that is not the case. He will come to the court whenever he has another gig to attend and we will know about all his movements,” Nel explained.

As a result, the magistrate said the musician is to return his passport on 1 August 2024.

RAPE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST STAR

Jub Jub is facing 13 counts, ranging from multiple counts of rape, assault, attempted murder and kidnapping.

The complainants are three of his ex-girlfriends, actress Amanda; his baby mama and songstress Kelly Khumalo; and Radio and TV host Masechaba Khumalo. The fourth woman is his cousin and singer, Bonukuhle Mtshweni.

According to Sunday World, it was revealed that the state witnesses include Kelly Khuma’s mother, Ntombi Khumalo. Masechaba Khumalo’s friend and Du-Pont’s younger sister are also state witnesses.

In August last year, the Ndikhokhele hitmaker handed himself over at the Brixton police station where he was granted R10 000 bail.

Some of his bail conditions included not travelling outside the country, hence he handed his passport to the authorities at the time. He was also ordered not communicate with the complainants or attempt to be in contact with them.
